Recently Canada had so many Chinese immigrating there on investor’s visa that all the quotas got filled up. Spain

had the opposite problem. They originally offered a resident visa to people for a 500,000 euro investment. They had

a major problem; they didn’t have any takers! The Spanish Economy has just basically collapsed so no one was interested

in investing in Spain what did the government do? The government changed the law. Now with an investment or the

purchase of property for 120,000 Euros the Chinese can be given a 2 year resident card that is renewable. The Spanish

system works like this. Once you get the first resident card, it is renewed twice for 2 years, the 5 years then 10 years and so on.

The difference in the length of years on the residency is misunderstood by many Chinese. They don’t understand that it is

permanent. The first card is the hard one to get but after that it is just a formality to renew your card. In actuality it is just like a

passport or a driver’s license that must be renewed every x number of years. Chinese take notice. If you want to be a European

resident it is only 120,000 investment in stocks or housing. The investment is yours and it gives you the same rights as a

European citizen. I think it is a good buy. I learned all of this translating for a neighbor. I called up my Gestor which in Spain is

someone who takes care of paper work to help my neighbor. She is from Shang dong. The paper work here is so complicated
